內容簡介
A new turn in Petrine studies came with the publication of John H. Elliott's book, A Home for the Homeless... Appearing in 1981, the book turned the direction of interest in this letter in some novel directions. In particular, it took as its starting-point the expression "strangers and aliens" in the letter. This phrase was interpreted by him as commenting on the social status of the receipients. The present work by Dr. Lim seeks to challenge this view, and to conduct a thorough investigation of the meaning of the terms.Given the fact that Elliott's book and subsequent studies on the socio-political background of 1 Peter have been largely accepted without much serious questioning, this challenge is timely.
