Timely Dewdrops from the Pulpit: Preaching and Pastoral Counseling

The objective of this project was to affirm the power of preaching and show that the pastor of a local church can effectively utilize preaching to counsel the flock. The pastoral profession was explored to explain why the pastor has an advantageous position to influence and teach the people within the local church through preaching. A shooting incident, which happened in the First Chinese Baptist Church (FCBC) in Los Angeles, was described in detail to show how a pastor uses the preaching of God's word to counsel people even during a crisis. "This book will serve as an invaluable reminder to all pastors and church leaders of the transforming power of God's Word as it is delivered to people who trust, love and respect the messenger God uses to proclaim it week in and week out." --Michael A Proud, Jr. D. Min. Director of Missions, Orange County Southern Baptist Association Santa Ana, California "Pastor Herman Tang has been my pastor for over 17 years at First Chinese Baptist Church, Los Angeles. The Lord's presence has been with him and his ministry through our years serving together at FCBC. His sincere pastoral love for God's people and his preaching to us has sustained our church, maintaining the Lord's presence in our midst, and its growth for the Kingdom of God." --Harold Yuan Deacon Chairman First Chinese Baptist Church, Los Angeles
